The following is a summary of Book 1, “Have You Truly Been Born Again of Water and the Spirit?” from the sermon series by Pastor Paul C. Jesus came with water (baptism), blood, and the Spirit to eliminate all sins of this world.
1 John 5:6 “This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood.”
1 John 5:8 “For there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one.”
As stated in 1 John, Jesus came with water, blood, and the Spirit, and through these, He blotted out all sins of this world, thus overcoming the world, that is, the power of Satan.
Jesus came by the Spirit.
As recorded in John 1:14, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us,” meaning that Jesus, who is God, came to this earth in flesh to save us sinners from sin.
Also, the Spirit is truth and testifies that Jesus is the Son of God.
And the Spirit dwells in those who are born again without sin through faith in the gospel of water, blood, and the Spirit that Jesus fulfilled, testifying that they are God’s people.
Jesus came by water.
As the beginning of His ministry as the Savior, Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, humanity’s representative and the last High Priest appointed by God, to be given the transference of all sins of this world, and through this baptism, He took upon Himself all the sins of this world.
The baptism Jesus was given was not a mere ceremony but the first ministry of salvation to take on the world’s sins, equivalent to the laying on of hands in the Old Testament.
Jesus came by blood.
Jesus eliminated all sins of the world by shedding His blood and dying on the Cross to pay for all sins He took on through His baptism in the Jordan River.
Thus, He fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law that states “the wages of sin is death.”
Because Jesus eliminated all sins of this world through water (baptism), blood, and the Spirit, all who believe in Jesus’ ministry of water, blood, and the Spirit obtain salvation from all sins.
Therefore, not only did the Lord overcome the world (Satan), but we who believe are also liberated from the oppression of all sins of this world and overcome this world and Satan.
Dear friends, ‘the faith that overcomes the world’ does not depend on our passion, effort, or goodness, but comes through faith in the ministry of water, blood, and the Spirit through which Jesus Christ acted and saved us from all sins.
I hope you too will have the faith that overcomes the world by believing in this ‘gospel of water and the Spirit.’
